5K Race/Walk on February 20th To Benefit Anthem Food Pantry
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Anthem, Arizona is hosting its third annual “Every Mile Counts” 5K Race on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the St. Rose Philippine Duchesne church located 2825 W Rose Canyon Circle. Proceeds of this race will go to the food pantry at St. Rose which provides temporary emergency subsistence for families who are suffering. St. Vincent de Paul works in conjunction with other not-for-profits in the service area to distribute food and many other services to any family or person in need regardless of age, religion or ethnic group. St. Vincent de Paul serves the Anthem, Tramanto, Black Canyon, New River and other north Phoenix communities.
The 5K Race is open to all casual and serious runners and walkers. The course is out-and-back and is predominantly asphalt. Water will be available at the turn around and start/finish line. Families are encouraged to participate through reduced fees for children. Parents with strollers are welcome. Race fees include a tee shirts, pancake breakfast and goody bag.

Salvation Army Says “Thank You!”
The ringing of the bells by the volunteer Salvation Army bell ringers in Anthem was rewarded with generous contributions. Del Mau of Anthem’s Salvation Army reported that a little over $21,100 had been generously donated into their Red Kettle this past Christmas season. In addition, Anthem’s Salvation Army collected 96 toys and nine jackets at their Anthem December toy drive at the Walmart in conjunction with the Daisy Mountain Fire Fighters. The Anthem unit of the Salvation Army assisted 116 families (407 individuals) in 2015 with their utilities in the amount of $30,940. The Salvation Army wants to thank all the volunteer bell ringers and contributors to the 2015 Red Kettle Drive.

Anthem Cares Through Service (ACTS) will hold its 6th Annual Silent Auction on Friday, February 19th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Ironwood Country Club, Anthem. Hundreds of exciting auction items will be available to choose from such as art, wine, gift certificates, vacation packages, golf packages, travel, and much more! “Little acts of kindness and assistance goes a long way to help Anthem families get back on their feet. The net proceeds of this Run/Walk will go towards building the food pantry at St. Rose which will provide temporary emergency subsistence for families who are suffering. St. Vincent de Paul works in conjunction with other not-for-profits in the service area to distribute food and many other services to any family or person in need regardless of age, religion or ethnic group. St. Vincent de Paul serves the Anthem, Tramanto, Black Canyon, New River and other north Phoenix communities.

The St. Rose Knights of Columbus will serve all participants a free pancake breakfast after the race; non-participants may join in the breakfast for a small fee.
Anthem Community has come together to provide cheering for the participants and in other ways provide a fun event for participants and spectators alike. Run/Walk Sponsors will have booths near the Start/Finish line to provide information and service.
